Here are some answers to frequently asked questions on our Home Grown Glitter program. If you don't find the answer here please contact us using the our online contact form.

How much will I get paid?
We pay per minute of used footage. You may send us a tape that is 30 minutes long but we can only use 10 minutes. You will be paid for 10 minutes.

What kind of format can I send my movie in?
We accepted movies in digital format on miniDV, DVD or as .mpg, .mov or similar on CD. Make sure you label your tape or disk with your name and date. In some instances we can accept material via email please contact us first if you wish to send by this method.

Do you accept home movies from outside of New Zealand?
You will need to email us first with a description of the content. We will not accept anything that is illegal in New Zealand and you should be sure that you are legally allowed to send us your tape according to you own home countries laws.

GLITTER FILMS does not condone any illegal material; any received will be handed over to the authorities. Illegal material includes but is not limited to anything involving persons under 18 years old, anything involving animals, anything taken without a persons consent, any acts of violence.

What if I don't want my film released in New Zealand, but overseas is okay?
We do release in New Zealand as well as overseas - but we can make some provisions. Please add this to your application form and we will consider it when deciding if we wish to purchase your footage. Preference is given to footage which is available for release locally and internationally.

How long before my footage is released after GLITTER purchases it?
This varies greatly. When we purchase your footage we will give you an idea of release date, and we will notify you prior to release when we have the exact date.

Do I get a free copy of the final Home Grown compliation?
There may be exceptions but generally no, however you can purchase one copy at wholesale.

Do I get my tape back?
If you send us a stamped (with the correct amount of postage), self addressed envelope we will send back your original tape.

What if I cannot get the consents?
Sorry we cannot accept any footage that do not have consent from all performers. That includes performers engaged in sexual acts as well as any other performers that may be shown on the footage. On film consent doesn't have to be on the same tape or media that contains the original footage - but it does need to be clear that the performer is the same person.

If you would like to send in your footage to see if we are interested first before getting the consents.

What does a performer need to say for the consent?
Each performer needs to clearly state on film or on a still photo that they were over the age of 18 and agree to the submission of this footage to Glitter Films for consideration for the Home Grown compilations and that they have entered into all acts voluntarily.

For example: "My name is Hal Goodridge and I was 25 at the time this footage was taken. I agree to Jason sending this footage of us to Glitter Films for their Home Grown compilations. All sexual acts between myself and all other people was with my consent."

We need to be able to see the photo id in either on camera or in a still photo. Still photos will need to be printed, signature and consent handwritten on the photo.

Do I have to use my real name?
We need your legal name for consents and proof of age, but you can give us any stage name you would like for inclusion on the compilation credits.

Can I disguise my appearance?
In the footage you can disguise yourself, but in the consents you must not be in disguise. It must be clear the ID and the performer are the same person and are real.

What is this USC Title 18 2257?
This is a regulation passed in the United States which basically states that produces of adult material must maintain records proving the age and legal name of any adult performers. Adult producers outside of the United States voluntarily comply with this law as US distributors will only accept material that complies.

What about my privacy?
Glitter Films is absolutely bound to maintain your privacy and will not pass on your details to any third party without your consent unless required to by law.

What will the contract say if Glitter Films does want to use my footage?
The contract basically states that you assign Glitter Films the right to use your footage in any Glitter Films publication. It also states that you hand over copyright of the work which means you cannot sell it or give it to anyone else of public or commercial use. You can still keep for you own use, but you cannot sell to another production company or post or sell to online sites for example.
