About Our T-shirts
All our t-shirts are printed here in New Zealand on sweat shop free or ethically produced shirts.
When sourcing t-shirts for our Glitter range, it was very important that t-shirts
were manufactured by ethical manufacturers and sweat shop free, as well and
high quality and with the right range of color, fabric and styles. I tried to
source New Zealand made t-shirts but this proved very very difficult, so I select
shirts from American Apparel - internationally renowned for their sweat shop
free ethics and AAA from Alstyle Apparel imported by a New Zealand distributor.

American Apparel
American Apparel t-shirts are wholly made in the US and are not subcontracted
to offshore labour or sweatshops. To ensure the company's success and stability,
American Apparel sees all of its employees as long-term investments. A primary
concern for the health and well being of their workers drive company practices
previously unseen in the apparel industry - they pioneered a new approach to
the industry.
Not only are American Apparel t-shirts made sweatshop free, but their t-shirts
are beautiful, soft, shapely and high quality.

Alstyle Apparel
Alstyle Apparel shirts have been used for our Glitter Crew t-shirts. They do
manufacturer offshore and in developing nations. I was specifically looking
for policies that ensured good working conditions, hours of work, correct pay
rates. According to all their public information Alstyle Apparel's meets this criteria. To quote directly from Alstyle Apparel's website on their policy:
"Alstyle Apparel recognizes its responsibilities to workers for the
conditions under which its products are made and that these responsibilities
extend to all workers producing products or services for Alstyle. We believe
that good workplace standards, decent health and safety requirements, fair
pay and conditions, and care for the environment are important elements in
business success. We provide a safe workplace that meets or exceeds all labor,
health and safety laws and regulations. We value all of our employees, and
set the same high standard for their working conditions as we set for the
high quality of our garments."

Of course, buying sweatshop free means you pay a bit more for the base t-shirt,
but I think it is worth it.
